DECEMBER 12th-19th, 2024 MEXICO PILGRIMAGE
Join us for our annual pilgrimage to Mexico where we will be joining some of our Wixarika (Huichol) friends for a special traditional ceremony. We’ll start our journey by landing in Puerto Vallarta and going to our hotel in San Pancho, a beautiful town on the beach just north of Sayulita. We’ll have a chance to walk through this charming town and have dinner before meeting for a welcoming blessing with Rutury. The following day we will be going to see La Pila Del Rey, also called the Altavista Petroglyphs, a complex in the jungle by a river and natural pools with a large number of ancient petroglyphs. Originally made by the Tecoxquines Tribe it is now a sacred site for the Wixarika people. We will have a Wixarika guide who is a protector for the site and he will be leading us for this part of our journey. The following day we will drive to San Blas where we’ll visit Tatei Haramara, one of the sacred sites that is on a small island accessible by a short boat ride and is a place of pilgrimage for the Wixarika people. We will meet another Wixarika friend there in San Blas and leave our offerings together before returning back in the evening to San Pancho. On the morning of December 15th we'll travel to the Pier in Puerto Vallarta where we will take a boat to Yelapa, a magical town on the coast accessible by boat where we’ll be staying at the beautiful Pura Vida Wellness Retreat Center. We’ll experience a traditional ceremony and integration together with a Wixarika family who will be staying with us in Yelapa for the rest of our pilgrimage until we leave on the morning of December 19th. Yelapa is an old town with cobblestone paths where there are no cars and a beautiful river and waterfall a few miles walk up river. We will be in ceremony most of the time we are there but there will also be some time to wander through the town and explore the local restaurants and beach. All of our journeys with our Wixarika friends have been very special and profound experiences and each trip is unique. We are very much looking forward to this special pilgrimage.
The fee is a donation to the non-profit Indios Huichol for $2,800 which includes accommodations
and all meals except two dinners and one lunch when there will be some free time. The fee also includes all transportation we take as a group in Mexico. We require a deposit of $500 to secure your spot with the remaining fee of $2,300 due by November 1st. Your deposit will be returned if you cancel before November 1st, 2024, and after that your deposit is non-refundable. If you pay your full fee by November 1st and have to cancel after that we will be glad to refund you if we can fill your spot from our cancellation list.
Limited to 15 participants.
This is a major fundraiser for our non-profit Indios Huichol. The profits from this journey go directly to Rutury’s tribal communities and is much needed and appreciated. Anaya and Rutury donate their time and efforts.
Please let me know if you would like to join us and I will provide you with payment information.
We look forward to being with you!
