Greetings Every One! The work we are doing could not continue without you. We are very grateful for your support and help. Every single prayer and donation is appreciated more than you can know. Thank you so very much for your support. A note from Rutury: Que Tuma Aku, Greetings Dear Friends! A movement of sharing that started few years ago by the Wixarika Elders of my village was given a broader and deeper meaning when I was asked to say all of the Wixarika names that Jaichima and I gave during the many years of our workshops. This happened when I met with several Elders in the last week of January of this year. Hearing their request was not a surprise, but remembering all the Wixarika names would be a challenge! Half of the names I could remember easily because they are people who are still active and present in our ceremonies, but remembering all of the other names was a test to my cognitive skills! The good thing was that I was given 5 to 7 hours to come up with all of the names, and this was the beginning of our weekend ceremony. When the time came to say all of your Wixarika names I must say that I did well, and then they had more questions they wanted me to answer. They wanted to know whether or not you had companions and what their names were, and if you had kids and how many and what their names were. They also wanted to know if I could tell them all the English names of the people who are in the circle who had not received Wixarika names but had attended any of the ceremonies or had any private sessions. They wanted to hear about ALL of you, about your thirsts, about your hungers, your yearnings, and when you feel fulfillment they wanted to know whether you are humble to receive it and know it. Before departing to go home, the Wixarika Elders said to me “ Hearing all of your English and Wixarika names has helped us understand the deeper meaning of the Universe, and now every time we do our ceremonies we will hear in the wind the humming melodies of all your names”. Perhaps we can adapt their example and begin to practice what they do each night. Before falling asleep they give thanks and when they awake they give thanks, no matter the circumstances. It’s a beautiful way to be grateful, not just when things are well but for always, and to realize that even though it looks like we are alone with our struggles, a group of Wixarika Elders are praying for us and our world. Pom Pa Dios Rutury Nahwi here: Oh my, the amazing changes with the work at the center! I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago, so I am quite sure that things are way beyond what my poor imagination can conger up. As you can see in these pictures, the bones of the house are getting their first layer of skin. They are putting up the plywood. Walking into the house is surreal in ways. I still can see the old house in my mind’s eye but that picture is fading a bit. As I see the new lay out of the inside of the house it is pushing out the old picture in my head. I cannot wait to see the way the curved windows towards the East will look when they are finished. I really can see myself sitting there and looking out towards the pond on an autumn day with the trees in their golden beauty reflected in the water….OK now I am getting chills….This is really happening! Our weather has been delightfully sunny and warm so the buds on the trees are doing their thing, even if it is really still winter. It is like the land is as excited as we are about the new beginnings that are being created at Wirikuta Springs. This reminds me, the blackberries still need to be dealt with. We have talked about several ways to accomplish this. The one most interesting to me is renting a small herd of goats. I love how organic that whole process would be. But it is still in the planning stages right now. The blackberries are not on the top of the “to do” list. Rutury by curved windows facing east. Area where the two roofs meet, this will also be a window This shows curved window, entrance door and roofs meeting window space Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy….so exciting! I can’t wait to see what happens next.
