A note from Rutury:

Que Tuma Aku. Greetings Dear Friends,

I would like to share a letter I wrote about my dear sister Jaichima.

You woke up from a short nap July 17, 2012. It was mid afternoon and you called me to sit next to you. As I held your hands and gently massaged your fingers you began to tell me about a dream you just had. Your dream spoke volumes about the people you had known for many years and how each one of them had something to teach you. Ten or fifteen minutes into your conversation you began to fall asleep, and I thought how sweet it is that she is falling asleep again because you had done this numerous times before, so I did not think any differently this time. A few seconds passed and I began to notice something different was happening. It felt like you wanted to stay awake but something beyond your control was calling you to fall asleep deeper, and each time deeper, yet with a sweet smile you would open your eyes but eventually fall asleep again. You continued to stay in this emotion for about eight to ten minutes and when I was just about to get up from being next to you, your hand and fingers began to hold my hand tight and tighter and than you let out a big sigh, kind of like when you burp a little baby. I froze and was numb for a while. I could hear the clock ticking but it had no meaning. I did not want to move or breathe or interfere with the stillness of silence. Your body lay there surrounded with all your sacred items in your sweet home, and slowly and gently I proceeded to pray and do the ceremony you had requested months ago. A few seconds after completing my ritual I began to see a light smoke coming out of your body. The light smoke would change into many colors and it was like watching the northern aurora lights. Eventually and slowly they dissipated into thin air, and by the end of this ceremony I was sobbing and shaking like a lost child.

These were Jaichima’s final words. “I have met thousands of people in my life’s journey. Every time I met a new person my unconditional love and full attention was there with them, and since that moment I never left them alone. I called that connection the sacred gift and it will remain with them forever unless the sacred gift is misused or misinterpreted for self gain. When that happens the bridge and the sacred gift is no longer sacred.”

Jaichima, today and every day, I celebrate and carry you in all my prayers with honor and dignity.
 Pam Pa Dios

Looking forward to our next ceremony
Love and Blessings

A note from Nahwi:
First we want to thank Nierika for letting Rutury use her wonderful office space for Rutury to meet with people during his last visit.  Nierika and Huyeh, thank you for your years of amazing support of Rutury and Indios Huichol, you are very appreciated.

I had a note all written for the newsletter about how friends and their support is an amazing gift of themselves and unconditional love…but I am not ready to share that note yet; perhaps another time.

What I want to share in this note is our excitement about the upcoming Workshop at Wirikuta Springs Retreat Center.  For those who were at the New Year’s Workshop and those at the Blessing Ceremony at the Center, we have a nice surprise about the Pima House!  The little door that was near the stove has been turned into a wall and a small window.  The stove is being moved over to that spot…so we can make room for….wait for it….a Dishwasher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wheeeeee!

The Patio outside of the sliding glass doors of the Pima house has now been set up as an outside Living room with lovely and very comfortable furniture so we can have talks under the shade of the Patio cover.

But that is not all!   The bathrooms of the Pueblo House are now in the process of being redone!  I don’t know all the plans for that but I do know that the tile has been ordered and the fixtures have been chosen.  I am looking forward to working with Anaya in getting the Pueblo House cleaned up after all the work, make beds and prepare rooms for the participants.  Doing the “girly” thing together is always a blessing for me, especially when it comes to welcoming and preparing for a Workshop.

Anaya and I will be doing the cooking for the workshop and we are really getting excited about that. We have found a very nice groove in the kitchen together in the past and look forward to this.

A reminder to the participants, if you have food allergies or are vegetarian please let us know as soon as possible.  We are starting our meal planning.
