Greetings dear friends!! These are the words and message of an Elder woman I spoke to last week. Many years ago, we were told to protect and treat our Mother Earth better and with great respect. She is alive but she cannot live forever without our cooperation, and so much damage has been done already. Now from all corners of the world changes have begun to become more noticeable, from east to west and north to south, all are feeling ripple effects. Everything living on our earth will experience a big impact. Our Mother Earth is weak and is in need of good cultivation from the human tribe. Our prayers and thoughts become the strength to keep our world together, and the human tribe must rise up over and over and not get caught in the mentality that this is my land and not yours. Nobody can truly own the land. We share the use of it. We need to learn that when we share it means we ask nothing in return but to help others in need. We must overcome every obstacle and pray together no matter our religion or our different beliefs. Our Earth does not belong to one person, our Earth belongs to the entire human tribe, and those that were here before us understood the system that every time you take something from the Earth you must give back something in return. For the first time after many years we will have a New Years Ceremony at Wirikuta Springs. All participants will work on their candles, prayer flags and sticks, and will participate in a candle ceremony at the Spirit Tree and walk in a ceremonial spiral. In the Wixarika culture when an Elder shares a message or vision, the community comes together and each family promises to do something to help the community or environment. The Wixarika Elders have promised to be our guides at the New Year and all of us will be following a processional ceremony that has been prepared for us by them. For those of you who will be joining us here at Wirikuta Springs I am looking forward to being with you, and for those who will not be able to be with us, I send my greetings and prayers to you and wish you a beautiful new beginning in the coming year. Looking forward to being with you, Love and blessings, Rutury A note from Anaya: I just wanted to thank all the participants who were in the first workshop that Rutury lead in Mexico a few weeks ago. It was such a special group and we had such a beautiful time together! I could not have wished for a more successful trip. Rutury recently spoke with someone from his tribe who passed on the message that the impressions they had of our group were enthusiastically positive. This was truly a beginning for the building of a bridge that is connecting his people and their ceremonies with us as a community and as individuals. I am grateful for your generosity and for your open hearts and adventurous spirits! I look forward to being with you again, Anaya Thank you Yulama for this wonderful picture! |
