Greetings Dear Friends, Tatewari, Grandfather Spirit. We open our hearts to your healing which brings us wisdom and knowledge from all corners of the universe. I’d like to share with all of you a story of a wonderful woman. From a young age she had a unique way of blending with Nature. Guided by her mother, she quickly learned how to use medicinal herbs for all kinds of healing. She was passionate about her love for being at service to the community, and what she contributed to her community continued to enhance her sacred human design. Whenever there was a ceremony in our Wixarika village she was the one who would gather wild herbs and flowers and bring them inside the Shrine we call the Tuki. She would spread them all over the floor with a deep understanding of these offerings to our Ancestor’s spirits. She was also a runner and the one who would take verbal messages from one community to another. Running in the wet and muddy hills or trails was not her specialty, yet she took the role for a year to relieve her best friend who had fallen and broken her foot. This kind of role in the community is not done to gain glory or respect, rather it is to shape us physically and spiritually in the areas we would otherwise maybe not pay much attention to. In her situation it helped her to enhance her skills to become a peace maker in our Wixarika community. When there was a discrepancy with families or other communities she would work hard to bring harmony and unity without judgement, and would not rest until the issues were resolved, no matter how challenging. I was told this story a few months after she passed away, and the story of this woman was my mother, who accomplished many things before meeting my father. On Feb 28th it will be 30 years since she passed away. I celebrate and share with all of you a thread of her knowledge and wisdom. Her chants, prayers, whispers and caresses will always be an inspiration to keep me moving forward in my life. She was truly weaving and sharing her sacred human design with everyone who knew her. PamPaDios Looking forward to our next ceremony Love and Blessings Rutury A note from Nahwi: Comings and Goings As we travel through this life, we learn about people coming and going though our lives. It is a bittersweet experience to be in. Loved ones and dear friends who you think will always be in your circle…are gone. Some are gone because they have died and others because of a falling out, a disagreement, apathy, or drifting apart. We have so many different ways of handling these losses; fear, anger, grief, pretending it didn’t happen, blaming them, blaming ourselves…and on and on. What we need to do is to examine what has happened, see what it is we are REALLY feeling and then deal with those emotions in a healthy way. I have in the past not dealt with “goings” well because I refused to acknowledge my real feelings about them, about the leaving, about my perceptions of what the relationship was for me and the other person’s perceptions of what the relationship was for them. As I have gotten older and am now reflecting on things in my life. I am seeing that comings and goings are a solid part of my life…I have had many hellos and goodbyes. And I have sadness with most of the goodbyes. However this is not to say that I don’t see the good in them, because I do see it…feel it…and am grateful for it. I can choose to remember the person in a clear way, when my emotions are dealt with in a healthy way. Life is too short to harbor anger and blame. If we open our arms to embrace a coming into our lives we have to open our arms to release a going as well. No one physically stays with us forever…including ourselves. Sometimes we have to just “get over ourselves” and continue down the healing road with eyes open and faith we will do the right thing.
