Recently while doing ceremony with members of the Mayo and Yaqui tribes who had traveled to Guadalupe Arizona, I was reminded by two male elders about a gift they had received from my sister Jaichima over 40 years ago. They said that after hearing of Jaichima’s passing they had been trying to come and talk to me, to do a ‘Manda’. This is a commitment that they needed to follow through with no matter what, and they needed to see me, and their journey to come to Arizona finally became possible this year. A few months before I saw them, I remembered being asked for a donation by a couple of Yaqui tribal people living in Arizona, who were raising money to help with legal fees and to get temporary visas for a few people who needed them to come for a ceremony from Sonora to Guadalupe. After giving them a donation I was also asked if I was still traveling to Nogales, Sonora Mexico that coming weekend and if so could I pick up people at the border and bring them to Guadalupe? I agreed to bring them, and when I went to pick them up all together there were 4 people, 2 of them I had never met before. I drove them and dropped them off at Guadalupe Arizona. A few days later I returned to assist in their ceremonies and after the ceremony was over the same people wanted to talk with me, and this is what they proceeded to say. "Over 40 years ago your sister Jaichima did a blessing ceremony for us that transformed our lives like never before. Her words were firm; her look was filled with fire. What she said was not easy for us to hear but it was what we needed to hear. We had strayed off of the path of integrity with our ways and with our people. Being with Jaichima pointed us in the direction of what we needed to become more reliable and responsible members of our community. We will always be grateful to her for steering us back on the right path.” For some of us who knew Jaichima doesn't that remind you of something that you might have experienced with her? You may have called it harsh at the time, you may have been angry with her or hurt, but being ‘real’ with you was the only way for her to chip away at your social mask, to crack the power that your ego had on you so you could honestly, without illusions, move towards the shifts that you were yearning for in your life. Reality checks are not easy but they are necessary in the process of facing our deepest challenges. I was reminded of how dedicated to the truth Jaichima was and how she knew just what was needed, no matter how hard it was for the person to hear. Sometimes people would agree with her, and sometimes they did not. That has always been their choice and their opinion, and their right. There is no absolute answer for everyone; help comes in many forms and ways. Her ways were not for everyone. That being said, I continue to work in the ways Jaichima taught me, and I am aware that the way we work and the process we are in with people, is not an easy one at times. It can be very challenging to be honest with ourselves about difficult issues. At other times the process of learning about ourselves can be expansive, joyful, and transformative. I have seen over these many years so many people gain many tools for improving their emotional and spiritual health and well being, improving their relationships and moving through transitions and changes. I am dedicated to helping people with the techniques that Jaichima gave me and will continue to do so with the guidance from my tribal community. I am grateful for the two elders who spoke with me. They completed their ‘Manda’ and I was deeply moved by their story. I wanted to share this with you. Pam Pa Dios, Rutury An update about upcoming events from Anaya- GREAT NEWS! 2016 WORKSHOPS! As you all know, there have not been any workshops since before Jaichima’s passing four years ago, and many of us have been wondering when we will be able to gather again at the Center. We are working hard on getting Wirikuta Springs up and running, and major progress has been made but we still have quite a ways to go. That being said, we believe that the Center will be ready for a gathering by the fall. I am happy to share that Rutury wants to have a weekend ceremony and Friday evening celebration for the re-opening of Wirikuta Springs Retreat Center in October! This is truly a new beginning for the Center, for Rutury, and for our community. Awaken and reacquaint yourselves with the spiritual energy of Wirikuta Springs and join Rutury for a weekend ceremony. Friday October 21st-Sunday October 23rd. The fee for this workshop will be $250, which includes accommodations. There is no fee for the Friday reception. Immerse yourselves in the energy of the Center, in the memories and the connection of the spirit of what Jaichima instilled in you, or introduce yourselves if you are new to our community to the profound energy of Rutury’s unconditional support and ceremonies. We will start with an opening reception and celebration on Friday evening from 4pm to 8pm, which will also be open to the local community. We will then continue with a meeting with workshop participants at 9pm and continue with the weekend workshop Saturday morning through Sunday at noon. Accommodations at the Center will be reserved for workshop participants. We are now going to be able to accommodate 8 people in the Pueblo House, as we have converted the rooms without the bunks with new beds into double rooms. You are also encouraged and welcome to camp. Please let us know what your preference is for accommodations and if you want to reserve a spot in the Pueblo House. You are also welcome to find other accommodations in the area if the Pueblo House is full and you are not comfortable camping, but please keep in mind that we request that you return to the Center no later than 10am in the mornings to be present for the morning prayer. November Workshop in Mexico I am also really excited to share that the path has been cleared to invite a group to participate in the first workshop to be held with Rutury in Nayarit, Mexico on November 11th-18th, 2016. We will be visiting two Huichol Ceremonial sites, and we are arranging a visit with some other tribal people from Rutury’s community. This will also be the first workshop where Rutury will begin to work with people with hands on healing techniques, as he has been encouraged to start doing by his tribal elders. This journey to Mexico will be focused on internal healing, with an emphasis on addressing the relationship between the physical and spiritual levels. The participants will be asked to focus on what they are willing to look at in themselves that is out of balance, or perhaps stuck, or dysfunctional. Rutury will spend time with individuals and with the group talking about their emotions and challenges, and then work with them individually to shift whatever has been stagnant, moving energy through a hands on healing session with them. He will also conduct other ceremonies with the group during the week, some at Ceremonial sites, and some in the privacy of our accommodations in Chacala. Rutury wants you to know that this is not a cure; it is a way for people to gain a stronger foundation to support their intentions for healing, learning, or change, addressing emotional and spiritual issues and the effects they have in the body. Rutury wants you to know that this workshop is about bringing things out from within.  The group will stay in this house in Chacala, just steps from the beach and a 5 minute walk to town Here are the basic details for this workshop. CEREMONIAL SITES AND HANDS ON HEALING The workshop will be November 11th-18th, 2016. The group will fly together from LAX to Puerto Vallarta on November 11th, be picked up and go to our accommodation in Chacala, a small fishing village with a beautiful beach, cobblestone roads, and some shops and a few good restaurants. From there during the week we will be traveling to do ceremonies in San Blas and Santa Maria Del Oro, two sites that have played very significant roles in Huichol ceremonial life. Other ceremonies and sessions will be held at the house in Chacala. Rutury will be meeting with each participant for a hands on healing session, with additional time to process the experience. This will be a small group, limited to 8 people. We will be spending some time with tribal people, and we are working on some interesting possibilities that we’ll announce as soon as we have confirmed our plans. The Cost for this workshop is $2,500.00, which includes a round trip flight between LAX and Puerto Vallarta, all accommodations, one daily meal, and all transportation while we are together as a group. We have to book the flights well in advance, so it is essential that you let us know if you are interested in participating in this special gathering as soon as possible. The workers are putting up a beautiful patio cover out of wood. The wood pillars are big, solid and match the pillars on the front of the Main House. I am sorry my picture does not show how wonderful the pillars look in person on the Main House, but you can get an idea of the size and shape from the Patio picture.

We could both see in our minds eyes and feel in our being, everyone gathering on the patio for ceremonies and talks, and yes, breaking bread together! As we stood there grinning like a couple of kids, we could almost hear you all talking together. It will be such a wonderful day when we can all gather at Wirikuta Springs again.

I think there will be a lot of details that you will see that Jaichima wanted in the Main House. While we miss things about the way the house was before, the new beginnings at the Main House has so many things that Jaichima and Rutury wanted. It is bringing cultures together. Honoring each one but also sharing. I was inclined to call it a blending but that’s not correct. It is like a child who is born from two very different parents. That child is its own person, but carries and honors both parents within its genes. Pam Pa Dios, Nahwi A gentle reminder that there will be a June Blessing Ceremony in Sebastopol: June Blessing Ceremony in Sebastopol  There will be a Blessing Ceremony with Rutury in Sebastopol on Saturday June 4th.
The location is Hessel Grange, 5400 Blank Rd. Sebastopol CA 95472. This is the same venue we used for the New Years Ceremony. The Ceremony will be from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. We will be having a Pot Luck so please bring a dish to share. There will be drumming so please bring your Drums, Kaichas & Spirit Whistles. Donations for the Ceremony will be $20.00 per person. During this visit Rutury will be doing Sessions by appointment. The sessions are on Thursday June 2nd and Friday June 3rd.
