                                                                 Greetings Every One!

The work we are doing could not continue without you.  We are very grateful for your support and help.  Every single prayer and donation is appreciated more than you can know. Thank you so very much for your support.

                                                                 A note from Rutury:

Que Tuma Aku. Greeting dear friends!

When I was asked to share the news about the passing of an Elder of my Wixarika tribe with all of you, my first reaction was to protect and keep everything within the Wixarika community, but I was also reminded that by saying out loud the way he died it would expose and release the energy that took place in the moment of his death. With respect to him and his family I will share with all of you the last ceremony we did together. These are his words-

"Just like our bodies yearn for food, water and air, our Earth is thirsting for ceremonies. If ceremonies are not performed our elements become out of balance, and what follows is disharmony like climate changes all over the world. For centuries many tribal and non tribal people have done ceremonies that would last weeks and months. Now few of us are left and you Rutury must continue to offer ceremonies to shift the spirit in the human tribe as is needed, to make a positive effect in our world."

Not thinking that this would be the last time I would be with him, we continued to do ceremonies that lasted all night until early dawn. His face and eyes had a profound story to tell. His demeanor was not to speak of himself but rather words like 'all of us', ‘we', and ‘together’, hardly ever using the singular word ‘I'. That was one month ago.

When I received the message and was told of the shocking news of his death, tears could not stop coming down my cheeks. I feel his wisdom and knowledge will forever run in my veins like a river flows, irrigating every inch in its path unconditionally. Indeed none of us are here on the Earth forever, and whenever our time comes at least we should have some comfort, someone near us. Above all we should have dignity in the last moments of our life, but when anyone is murdered is it beyond my comprehension. The entire village is traumatized and many have mixed emotions, and I am also having challenging emotions here and there. Reality is hard and I need to accept that the Elder will never complete what he was meant to teach me. In retrospect I now understand why he reminded me so much of my father. His family is inconsolable and I can only imagine how devastated they feel. I assured the family that I would help out in any form and be there if the need arises. I also said that those of you who know me will also pray for them. Like my tribal people are saying, and I also echo their words "it was too soon for him to die, all of us are in shock by the way he was killed, and we will deeply mourn his death but also celebrate his teachings”.

Out of respect for his family, I am unable to describe to you the details of his death, beyond the fact that it was not natural in a way that has deeply wounded my tribal people and of course his family. I ask you to respect that I will not share any more specific information.

To the reader, wherever you are, I ask you to do ceremony in your own way. You don't have to believe in any particular religion, but start with yourself, your family and ultimately for our world, and if you don't know what a ceremony is, it can be as simple as saying thank you to the Creator. At the end or the beginning of your day, no matter the circumstances, find a moment, a breath, a word, something to take you outside of your routine, and think of something you are grateful for and give thanks. If I am coming to your town I encourage you to attend and be part of a Blessing Ceremony. As often I speak about it, ceremonies are not only about me or the Wixarika tribe, ceremonies are for all of US and most important, for our world.

I look forward to being with you,
Pam Pa Dios
Rutury

                                                                  A note from Nahwi:

We have had complaints from people about receiving reminders for events that are not in their area.  I am very sorry this is inconvenient for you.  I am dealing with an email list that at this time has close to 160 people listed on it and it is constantly growing.  I really do not know where most of you live.

I would like to explain why we are sending event information to you.  1. We do not want people to feel that they have been left out when we contact people. I am sure you understand how horrible it feels to be left out of something that is important to all of us.  2. There are events that someone you know may be interested in or that you know can be of great help to them. This way you have the information to share with them.  3. There are times that one is able to travel to an event because they want to participate even if it is not local.  The event is calling to them.   4. The event sounds interesting to you but you are not able to travel to it, but now that you know about it you can contact us to see if we can arrange enough interest in one like it in your area.
If none of our reasons work for you, and you still do not want event reminders sent to you please send me an email and let me know to cancel the newsletter delivery.  You can always access our Newsletters and Event information on our website; http://www.indioshuichol.org/

If you do not mind receiving the event notices you do not have to do anything and you will still receive them along with your Newsletters.
And since we are on this subject, it would be most appreciated if you have a problem like this that you try to address it with me; this is a part of my duties.  Rutury oversees so many things and is very busy.  My job is to help lift the office work and related problems from his heavily weighted shoulders.  If you tell him, he has to find the time to alert me and explain what the problem is.  There are times we are not able to have a conversation or send a note to each other for several days, and when we do, we have a very long list of items to cover. Then there is the possibility of him not remembering something because of the many other tasks on his list.  I am here to help him and I am here to help you. But I do need to know if there is a problem in order to address it.

My email address is [email protected]

Thank you, together we can address problems and concerns

Join us for a special Huichol (Wixarika) Ceremony
Friday-Sunday July, 15th, 16th and 17th, 2016 in Sebastopol, CA.

This ceremony is for anyone who is searching to enhance and deepen their spirituality, and will be guided by Rutury who is a traditional shaman or MaraAkame, which is the term that is used in the Wixarika tribe. We will be honoring the four year anniversary of Jaichima's passing, a rare ceremony that is performed only when a person has reached a high status and level of achievement. Jaichima was that and much more... We will be synchronizing our ceremonies with the Wixarika Elders from Rutury’s village who will be performing their rituals at the exact times we will be doing ours.

Feel free to bring your drums, rattles, spirit whistles and ceremonial attire!

There is a meadow on the property where you can set up your tent if you are camping, or you can stay at a local hotel or residence. We will be emailing all the participants a plan for food arrangements closer to the event which will include a potluck schedule. Please be prepared for hot and cold weather, and also a visit to the beach.

All participants must be present Friday July 15th no later than 2pm when there will be an explanation of what to expect over the weekend and an opening ceremony. Each one of you will be asked have a role holding one of the four elements as the ceremony begins. We will continue our ceremony throughout the weekend, ending on Sunday July 17 at noon.
